Took the canoe out everyday. Canoed around a couple of the islands and to the peninsula across the way. Kids loved playing in the lake and our 6 year old caught the first fish! Kayaking the lake is beautiful. We saw a moose near the cove on the other of the lake! It is so peaceful here. We don't want to leave. This is such a warm and cozy cabin. This was our first trip to the Moosehead Lake Region and we were very happy to have discovered this beautiful area. Your home is everything we hoped for and more! We spent peaceful hours on the dock, enjoyed the sun and later the sunsets. The weather was very cooperative so we were able to take a swim most days. We brought our canoe along to explore Lily Bay, rented a pontoon boat at Beaver Cove and saw Mt. Kineo from the water. Took a Moose Safari with Northwoods Outfitters “ highly recommended” Hiked Big Spencer and Gulf Hagas. Managed to find plenty of time to kick back, read and play Yahtzee. Wildlife sighting include – male and female Bald Eagles, (2) two mama/baby moose pairs, deer, fox, coyote, loons, beavers – fantastic! We wish we had another week at least. Thank you!

We believe that your home on Moosehead Lake is charmed, you cannot have a bad time here. The weather has been somewhat iffy and the last (2) two days have been very windy, not much for swimming this year. We have seen (2) two moose by accident and we did get some boating in. Our boys, Alex 8 and Ryan 6 found lots to do just being outside. Alex discovered a love of waves, he spent hours just watching the lake! What precious times. This is our 5th year up at your cottage. It was really fun as always, I am 12, Lindsay is 10 and my parents are older than that. The weather was great, more so the second week. Dad, Lindsay and I climbed Indian Trail on Mt Kineo and Mom and her friend did the other trail. Peter, our Uncle, lent us his new motor boat and that was great also. Another day we went white water rafting with “Moxie” on Kenebec River. That speech about all the danger scared me, but it turned out to be a blast!

We had a wonderful vacation in your lovely home. Moosehead Lake is beautiful. We chose this area for vacation after we dropped our youngest son off to college in Bangor. We enjoyed kayaking, looking at the stars and watching sunsets. We took an afternoon trip over to Moxie Falls and enjoyed pizza and ice cream in town that night. Our week at SplitRock Cottage has come to an end. We have had all kinds of weather, but we took our boat out on the lake everyday, except Thursday. Today was the best day with fishing, tubing and a trip to Mt. Kineo. What a beautiful, relaxing week, in a very clean, homey cottage. I felt like a cat curled up in all the warm sunny spots around the cottage to read my books in the AM before everyone got up. The view every morning from the Master Bedroom was picture perfect and different everyday. We thought we were not going to add to the animal list, but finally on Wednesday we saw two moose in the bog by Lily Bay State Park. We saw one deer and also a hummingbird in the feeler almost every night at dinner. Thank you for sharing your lovely cottage.

Another vacation gone by too fast. We had a great time. The weather the first week was so so , but this week was pretty good. We found plenty of time for water fun, walks and relaxation. We saw a cute brown rabbit in the yard several times. He wasn’t bothered by us at all. We also rescued a small turtle in the road that was hit by a car. We kept him for a week and I am happy to say, he recovered fully and we took him back and released him to his home today! Thank you for the use of your house and property. We always have a wonderful time here in Lilly Bay. We enjoy the lake views and the swimming mostly. The new bathroom is great! Dad's favorite chair is the comfy one, He sit there all day. He really likes the new bed too. We also like the porch. It has a lovely view. Dad brought his sailboat. The calm water is good for sailing. Lindsay age 8 and I age 10 really like sleeping in the loft. The mattresses are nice and soft to sleep on. Mom and Dad like their room too. Thank you for letting us use the Splitrock Cottage. It always seems as though our time here goes by twice as fast as "realtime". We had a great two weeks and none of us want to leave. Our boys, Alex now 5 1/2 and Ryan 3 1/2 really enjoyed the boat and splashing around in the lake. It's really nice to see them grow to appreciate the beauty and serenity here. This place is the cleanest one we had ever rented, first place we didn't have to scrub top to bottom in order to feel comfortable settling in, very nice. The stars at night were spectacular! We already are looking forward to next year trip.

It was a delightful stay at your humble establishment. We saw (3) moose, (20) rabbits, (10) fox, (2) squirrels, (4) chipmunks, (1) snake, (1) toad, (7) black ducks, and (2) hawks. My sister and I went kayaking and stopped at an island and found it was full of loon eggs. All in all it was nice.

We are leaving tomorrow after spending one week in this delightful little cottage. My husband and I were very pleased with the cottage. It was very cozy, CLEAN and homey. We would stay here again in a minute! All in all a great week for watching moose, plus a great cottage.

We had a very pleasant week here at your Lily Bay camp, although we had a few very chilly days for July. Spent our time swimming, kayaking and relaxing. The kids were in the water almost every day. Also hiked Kineo, cruised on the Katahdin and had dinner at the Birches one evening. Your camp is lovely, we enjoyed it thoroughly!

What a wonderful week the four of us had, we couldn't have pictured a more wonderful cabin, it's location and hominess made our week. I painted water colors while my husband and sons hiked. I laid out on the dock every night watching shooting stars and listening to the loons. The smells and sounds have a permanent place inside...A beautiful place in which to relax, think, listen and adore nature, really brings back memories of camping when I was a teenager, my nickname since childhood has been "Moose", so seeing the grand creatures up is a thrill ! So appropriately, vacationing on Moosehead Lake has been great.

This is our second vacation to Moosehead Lake. We enjoyed your cabin very much. The landscape was beautiful ! My son enjoyed fishing from your dock. We went Moose "watching" a couple of times, but only saw (1) one moose. The weather was hot when we arrived, but cooled down nicely by the end of the week. We had a wonderful week! The weather was great. We caught several Toque, one weighting 8 1/2 lbs., a 18" Salmon and our Granddaughter caught a 16" Brook Trout the first day here on her "Tweedy Bird" fishing pole, she managed to get the fish into the boat without any help. This one will get mounted for her! Above all, the place was spotless and clean. The accommodations were more then we could have hoped for.

Moosehead Lake is a magical place! We had an excellent time exploring ponds, going on hikes, looking for moose, swimming, eating lobster, etc! The weather wasn't perfect, but it gave us the opportunity to see a lot more then we would've otherwise. Friday was absolutely beautiful (Our son's 1st Birthday). We are so sad to leave your wonderful clean and serene home. We'll always remember the beautiful lake, woods and the smell of balsam fir and raspberries.
